My Story
Hello there, I’m Mirko Fabian —a passionate filmmaker who moved from Germany to Australia to pursue my dream of storytelling through film. For years, I felt out of place in Germany, facing obstacles because I didn’t follow the traditional path. Without the qualifications to attend university there, I took the self-taught route, mastering filmmaking on my own.
I came to Australia in 2023 and enrolled in the Academy of Interactive Technology in 2024, where I am currently studying Film, Cinematography, and Film/Video Production. Australia is where I finally feel like I belong—where I can express myself fully, live in an English-speaking environment, and pursue a career that means everything to me. But my journey hasn’t been easy.
The Challenge
Facing Financial Hardships
A Betrayal That Nearly Ended My Dream
Before I started my studies, I invested heavily in professional film equipment, believing I was building a future with a trusted business partner. Unfortunately, I was deceived by someone who turned out to be a scammer. This left me with a mountain of debt and put my dream at risk.
Despite this setback, I didn’t give up. I’m continuing to work, produce high-quality content, and study full-time, but the financial pressure is overwhelming. The tuition for my degree is 45,000 AUD, and I urgently need to raise 6,000 AUD within the next two weeks to cover the next installment. On top of that, I’m also trying to repay roughly 4,000 AUD in debt.
